Gail Nickerson is the founder and past president of the California Association of Rural Health Clinics (CARHC). She has worked in the field of rural health care for over thirty years as a health systems consultant and an outpatient clinic administrator. She also has considerable experience working with a variety of nonprofit organizations.
Gail worked as the Director of Rural Health Services for Adventist Health in Roseville, CA, providing oversight for over fifty Rural Health Clinics in California, Oregon, and Washington. She was the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics (NARHC) and Vice Chair of the NRHA Rural Health Congress. She was also appointed by Governor Brown to the California Commission on Aging (CCoA). In 2013, Gail received the NRHA’s President’s Award “for being a leader and driving force in enhancing the quality of life for rural Americans”. In 2012, she received the NARHC’s Ron Nelson Award “for outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to the advancement of Rural Health Clinics” and the CHA’s Certificate of Distinction “for her voluntary efforts in connection with rural health clinics and outpatient clinics”. She represented Rural Health Clinics on the federal HPSA/MUP Negotiated Rulemaking Committee in 2011, and was a recipient of the 2010 Rural Champion for Community Leadership award from CSRHA.
