CARHC members are invited to submit nominations for a worthy recipient of the California Rural Health Champion Award. This award recognizes and honors and outstanding leader of rural health clinics. Please nominate an individual that has dedicated their time and efforts to advance the health and wellbeing of others through their RHC program. You must be a CARHC member to make a nomination but nominees do not need to be CARHC members.

States by Numbers - Opioid map

The map found in the link below represents opioid abuse and claim lines by state. The darkest states are those where the percentages are the highest. Clicking on a state will display an infographic on opioid abuse and dependence for that state in 2017.

We realized the true experts are sitting in the audience and we want to learn best practice from our colleagues.  We are asking for our members to share best practice and innovations in their work that would be valuable to others and present at our conference.

Common Deficiencies in a Clinic Environment

Deficiency - Emergency response medications and supplies are not immediately available to use for treatment of the RHC patient.

Remedy - The medications and supplies approved by the Medical Director should be assembled to bring to any location within the clinic. This includes the medications and supplies in the ER Kit, a portable oxygen source, and the ventilation supplies necessary to support respiration of the adult and/or pediatric patient. Be sure to include a written dosing schedule for the emergency medications in your kit. Should a patient require immediate treatment or basic life support, all clinical staff should know where the ER Kit is located and have the supplies on hand to begin treatment. All staff should know their role during an emergency medical event and be prepared to assist the provider to stabilize the patient.
